Matuh Ntumngia Awunti (Your daughter)

Mama, Mom, Mommy as I would often call you and you would reply Akong, My Mbombo, Matuh Jr. How I miss you. You molded me into the Woman that I have become. At age 13 when you singled me out and gave me the keys of your convenience store when I got home from boarding school I thought you didn’t want me to have fun during the Summer holidays. Here was I planning to enjoy my 3rd term holidays and you’ll be in charge of this store from inventory to everything concerning the store. I cried myself to sleep that night wondering to myself why me. Little did I know that you were preparing me to become a business woman. You would take me to the wholesale stores which were mostly ran by the Lebanese people in Abidjan to teach me how to buy and retail. Today I look at what I have accomplished as a Nurse Entrepreneur and I can’t thank you enough for singling me out of all my siblings to run the store being a teacher maybe you saw something in me. Mama you taught me how to cook, how to go to the market and bargain prices for food stuff. You also taught me how to take care of my younger siblings during what I called the mass Exodus of the house when I suddenly became the oldest child when Mankaa, Ngum and Bi all left at the same time for Saker Baptist College in 1985. I grew up overnight and learned to be in charge of Lum and Mangwi. Mama thank you for continuing to teach me life lessons till the very end. When you decided to come lend a helping hand to my husband and I with the 4 children in 2016 little did I know it was my turn to take care of you and Papa. It was the hardest challenge I have ever been faced with butyou always taught me to be resilient and hanrdworking while keeping my head up high with a smile and asking God for his grace I was able to be there for you till the very end. I count it all joy that you choose my home to spend the last days of your life. Mom you fought a good fight and you finished the race. Till we meet again. Greetings to Papa and all your loved ones gone ahead of you.
